Hà Nội Pressed by Vietnam Leader to Boost Sustainable Economic Growth

by admin477351

Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm has urged Hà Nội to pursue faster economic growth while ensuring sustainable development and improved governance. He emphasized the need for a better quality of life for the city’s residents. During a recent meeting with the city’s leadership, he acknowledged Hà Nội’s achievements in institutional reforms, infrastructure development, and administrative improvements. However, he also pointed out existing challenges, such as slower-than-expected growth, underutilized resources, and delays in major urban projects.

President Lâm called on city authorities to unlock idle resources and accelerate key infrastructure projects. He stressed the importance of strengthening support for businesses, tourism, and innovation, alongside improvements in public services. Among the priority areas he highlighted were reducing traffic congestion, addressing pollution, expanding housing, and investing in education, healthcare, and digital transformation.

Hà Nội has set an ambitious target of achieving 11% growth in its Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by 2026. This comes after the city recorded an 8.22% economic growth in the first half of the year, a figure that outpaced the national average. The city aims to maintain this momentum while tackling the challenges identified by its leadership.

In his address, Tô Lâm praised the progress Hà Nội has made but reiterated the need for continued efforts to overcome obstacles hindering its development. By focusing on unlocking idle resources and expediting infrastructure projects, the city hopes to achieve its economic goals while improving the living standards of its population. The emphasis on innovation and support for businesses is expected to play a crucial role in driving future growth.
