Thailand has declared Bangkok a disaster-affected area following several days of heavy rainfall that have led to extensive flooding and severe traffic disruptions throughout the capital. The declaration, which applies to all 50 districts of Bangkok, enables authorities to implement emergency measures aimed at alleviating the crisis.
In response to the flooding, authorities are expediting drainage operations, setting up temporary shelters, and identifying residents who are particularly vulnerable, including bedridden patients. The relentless rainfall has resulted in nearly 300 millimeters of precipitation in Bangkok since Thursday, causing significant waterlogging and flooding on roads in various parts of the city. The situation has complicated movement across the capital, making it difficult for residents to commute and carry out daily activities.
