The celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha underscored the strengthening ties between Vietnam and Qatar, as officials from both nations highlighted their commitment to fostering peace, dialogue, and international cooperation. This event marked the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day and included participation from senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
Over the years, Vietnam and Qatar have built a robust diplomatic relationship, which began in 1993. Their cooperation has since expanded into several sectors, including trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications. The Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, emphasized the importance of these expanding ties during the celebration.
Economic relations between the two countries have also seen substantial growth, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects a growing business engagement and the exploration of new investment opportunities between Vietnam and Qatar.
High-level exchanges continue to play a critical role in cementing these relations. Notably, Qatar’s prime minister visited Vietnam in October 2024, underscoring mutual interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation and expanding economic partnerships further.
