Vietnamese Party General Secretary Tô Lâm concluded a successful state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), where he attended the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and held high-level talks with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un. The discussions took place in a spirit of sincerity and mutual respect, focusing on strengthening traditional ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Both leaders reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK, originally forged by President Hồ Chí Minh and President Kim Il Sung. They agreed to boost exchanges between Party, State, and local levels to enhance political trust, deepen mutual understanding, and promote collaboration in areas such as culture, sports, tourism, education, and healthcare.
General Secretary Tô Lâm proposed greater cooperation in media and communication, including joint radio and television programs to highlight the cultures of both nations. Kim Jong Un welcomed these initiatives, expressing his readiness to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperate closely on national development and Party-building efforts.
The two sides also agreed to coordinate more actively in international forums, including the United Nations and ASEAN Regional Forum, to contribute to peace, stability, and development in the region. The visit marked a significant milestone in deepening the Vietnam–DPRK partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to continued friendship and collaboration.
