Việt Nam and Cambodia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in politics, security, trade, investment, culture, and regional stability. At the 21st meeting of the Việt Nam–Cambodia Joint Committee held in Siem Reap, both sides praised the strong progress in bilateral relations, highlighted by successful high-level exchanges and expanding collaboration across multiple sectors.
Foreign ministers Lê Hoài Trung and Prak Sokhonn reviewed achievements in recent years, including enhanced defence coordination, growing trade, and active cooperation between border provinces. Bilateral trade reached US$10.4 billion in the first eleven months of 2025, reflecting robust economic ties. The inauguration of the Tân Nam–Meun Chey international border gate was celebrated as a major step toward improving connectivity and boosting cross-border commerce and people-to-people exchanges.
Looking ahead, both nations agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges, promote infrastructure and transport connectivity, expand border trade, and modernise procedures to facilitate investment. They also pledged closer cooperation in tourism, education, water resource management, climate issues, and coordination at international forums including the UN, ASEAN, and Mekong mechanisms.
The meeting concluded with the signing of official minutes and a commitment to hold the next Joint Committee meeting in Việt Nam in 2026. Earlier discussions between Vietnamese and Cambodian leaders also reaffirmed mutual support and confidence in each country’s development goals, while calling for peaceful dialogue amid regional tensions.
