“Going to Work Out Very Well”: Trump’s Rosy Outlook on Xi Talks

President Donald Trump has a rosy outlook on his upcoming “big meeting” with Chinese President Xi Jinping, telling reporters in Tokyo that it “is going to work out very well.”
The high-stakes discussion is scheduled for Thursday in South Korea, during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
This confidence comes even as the US and China are engaged in a new round of trade sparring. The US threatened 100% tariffs after China imposed export controls on rare earths.
The conflict has since escalated with additional US port fees and subsequent countermeasures from Beijing, making these talks essential.
“We are gonna be (having) a fantastic meeting,” Trump insisted, adding that it would be “great for everybody.” He also noted that both he and Xi have “a lot to talk about.”
