Musk: Trump’s Spending Bill Is “Disappointing” and Dangerous for Clean Energy

by admin477351

Elon Musk has issued a stern rebuke of President Donald Trump’s new tax-and-spend bill, describing it as counterproductive to both budget control and clean energy goals. Speaking to CBS in a segment preview, Musk said the bill’s passage was a setback for efforts to streamline federal spending, adding that it expands the deficit rather than shrinking it.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act removes incentives for electric vehicles, implements a $250 annual EV fee, and cuts essential programs while expanding border security funding. Musk previously supported trimming subsidies, but Tesla’s recent 71% drop in profits has likely shifted his stance as government incentives now seem more critical than ever.
Though once a major donor to Trump’s campaign, Musk is now taking a more oppositional tone. His remarks could encourage pushback from both progressive and conservative lawmakers who question the wisdom of slashing support for working-class Americans while increasing the national debt.
