Patrick Achi, the President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, commenced a four-day official visit to Hà Nội on August 23, following an invitation from Trần Thanh Mẫn, the President of the Vietnamese National Assembly. This visit, scheduled from August 23 to 26, comes on the heels of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire, celebrated in October 2025.
Throughout his stay, Achi is set to engage in discussions with high-ranking Vietnamese officials, including the Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm. A significant portion of his agenda includes talks with National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn, aiming to bolster parliamentary cooperation and enhance economic and trade ties between the two nations.
This visit signifies a continued effort to deepen bilateral relations and exchange legislative insights. Vietnamese representatives have highlighted the visit as indicative of Côte d’Ivoire’s increasing interest in expanding its relationship with Vietnam.
Notably, this marks the second occasion in three years that a head of Côte d’Ivoire’s legislature has visited Vietnam, underscoring the strengthening bonds and shared interests in legislative collaboration between the two countries.
