The ongoing war in Ukraine is “futile” from the perspective of the West, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov argued this week, adding that European hopes for a Russian defeat are “unprofessional.”
Alipov claimed that this sense of futility is recognized by President Donald Trump, who “understands that this war is lost by Ukraine and the West.”
In contrast, he described European nations as continuing their “belligerence” and “craziness,” holding onto a “childish” belief that Russia can be militarily overcome.
The ambassador explained why he believes this is impossible. “You can’t, you know, take over us in this conflict,” he stated, attributing this to Russia’s nuclear weapons.
He reminded attendees at the Gurugram event that Moscow’s official doctrine includes the potential use of nuclear arms if the state faces an “existential threat,” a stark warning as the war continues with Western backing.
