Vietnamese National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man met with Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, in Beijing on October 12 to discuss enhancing people-to-people ties between Vietnam and China. During this official visit, Tran underscored the significance of these exchanges in fostering stronger bilateral relations, emphasizing the need for deeper and more practical cooperation.
Tran praised the role of friendship organizations in connecting communities, businesses, scholars, youth, and cultural groups from both nations. He advocated for continued collaboration through initiatives such as the Vietnam-China People’s Forum, the Border People’s Friendship Festival, and youth exchange programs. These efforts, he suggested, are essential for building a sustainable partnership and mutual understanding.
Highlighting future opportunities, Tran called for expanded cultural and tourism cooperation, particularly in anticipation of the 2026–2027 Vietnam-China Year of Tourism Cooperation. He proposed increasing exchanges between local communities and promoting visits to historical sites and cultural destinations to bring tangible benefits to citizens in both countries.
Tran also encouraged friendship organizations, researchers, and media representatives to disseminate accurate information and share positive stories of bilateral cooperation. This, he noted, would help younger generations appreciate the historical ties between Vietnam and China.
Yang Wanming reaffirmed the commitment of the Chinese association to strengthen the social foundations of the bilateral relationship. He pledged to continue promoting cultural exchanges and mutual understanding in alignment with the shared objectives of both countries’ leadership.
Both parties emphasized the importance of preserving traditional friendships and expanding people-to-people engagement to support stable and long-term relations between Vietnam and China.
