Vietnam and Japan have reinforced their dedication to enhancing cooperation between their ruling parties and legislative bodies. This commitment was reaffirmed during discussions in Hanoi between Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, the Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The two nations celebrated the ongoing growth of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, agreeing to further political dialogue and parliamentary exchanges. This move follows the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to Vietnam earlier in the year, which laid the groundwork for deepening bilateral relationships.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc emphasized Vietnam’s robust economic progress and its continuous administrative reforms, suggesting that Japan could share its expertise in local governance and decentralization. This knowledge transfer would aid in Vietnam’s institutional development. He also pushed for broader cooperation in areas such as human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
In addition, the Vietnamese official called for stronger ties between the countries’ parliamentary friendship groups and encouraged increased exchanges among young lawmakers. He also requested Japan’s ongoing support for the Vietnamese community residing there and proposed simplifying visa procedures, aiming for visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens in the long term.
Hagiuda Koichi expressed his backing for expanding bilateral cooperation. He assured that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and its parliament would continue to promote exchanges and joint initiatives, particularly in advanced technologies, digital innovation, and the green energy sector.
