In a recent meeting held in Hanoi, Vietnam and France have reiterated their commitment to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on increased collaboration in key areas such as diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. As both nations reviewed the progress of their bilateral relations, they agreed to hasten the implementation of their partnership action plan to ensure continued growth and mutual benefit.
Vietnam has expressed a keen interest in boosting cooperation in several strategic sectors, including defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, as well as critical minerals and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnam urged France to expedite the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and called for continued French support in lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which has been an issue of concern for Vietnam’s export sector.
France, recognizing the strategic importance of Vietnam in the Asia-Pacific region, expressed its desire to expand collaborative efforts in areas such as nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. The French government also showed interest in broadening cooperation in healthcare and cultural exchanges, indicating a multifaceted approach to strengthening bilateral ties.
Both countries have committed to enhancing coordination on regional and global matters, emphasizing the importance of promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This renewed commitment signifies a collective effort to address shared global challenges and to foster a stable and prosperous future for both nations.
