In a bold affirmation of friendship and future-focused cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng declared Japan a “trusted partner in the new era of development” during his official visit to Tokyo on Friday. Speaking at a high-level meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, Dũng praised the evolving Việt Nam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, founded on deep political trust and shared long-term vision.
Participating in the 30th Nikkei Forum “Future of Asia,” Dũng called for accelerated implementation of high-level agreements, expanded economic and technological collaboration, and stronger people-to-people ties. He urged Japanese investment in critical sectors such as smart urban infrastructure, high-speed rail, digital transformation, and green energy—emphasizing Việt Nam’s readiness to become a top investment destination in Southeast Asia.
Dũng also met leaders of Sumitomo Corporation, applauding their major projects in Việt Nam, including industrial parks and the forthcoming Vân Phong 2 LNG power plant. Sumitomo pledged alignment with Việt Nam’s net-zero vision and reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the country’s socio-economic development.
Highlighting Việt Nam’s dynamic economy, young tech talent, and strategic reforms, Dũng addressed the Việt Nam Digital Transformation Day 2025 in Tokyo. He positioned science, innovation, and digital capability as the keys to escaping the middle-income trap and building national prosperity. With Japan’s global leadership in AI, robotics, and semiconductors, he called for deeper cooperation in R&D, core technology transfer, and workforce development.
“Together, Việt Nam’s youthful energy and Japan’s cutting-edge expertise can generate unprecedented breakthroughs,” Dũng concluded, setting the tone for a revitalized partnership shaping Asia’s future.
